Following the Tolmekian Armored Soldier and the Horseclaw, the latest entry in the Takeya-style Jizai Okimono "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" series features the soldiers fighting on the front lines of the "Dorok Principality Alliance," a powerful multi-ethnic nation that rivals the Tolmekian Kingdom in the original manga. Skilled in guerrilla warfare such as night raids, they are recognized even by Kushana in the story as formidable warriors. Their appearance, with helmets resembling ethnic masks and miasma masks, reflects a unique culture and style. For this Takeya-style Jizai Okimono, Takayuki Takeya has analyzed Hayao Miyazaki's original manga and color illustrations to arrange a design that blends indigenous styles with processing techniques inherited from an advanced ancient civilization. Yukio Fujioka was in charge of the sculpting. The color scheme emphasizes an ethnic feel by boldly placing red and blue while keeping the overall tones subdued. Takeya's sense of arrangement, which makes one wonder at first glance whether they are fictional or real, is highly compatible with the worldview of "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind". The result is a figure of a Dorok soldier with a strong presence that conveys that even as common soldiers, each one is a living human being.
The figure of the Dorok soldier, clad in grotesque armor, has been turned into an articulated figure with a unique arrangement. A wide range of motion is maintained, including forward and backward shoulder swings and the movement of the kusazuri (tassets) around the waist made of soft materials. The sculpting, which realistically expresses a human body wearing armor even within an imaginative design, is a must-see, and the exquisite finish ensures that natural proportions are not lost even when posed.
Line them up with the currently available Tolmekian soldiers and Horseclaw to recreate battle scenes between the Tolmekian Kingdom and the Dorok Principality Alliance! The handheld weapons include a large rifle equipped with a bayonet and a curved sword similar to a Japanese katana. It incorporates details that emphasize realism while capturing the depictions from the original work. By swapping the hilt, the sword can be stored in the scabbard worn at the waist.
