Kaiyodo has delivered numerous "highest quality replicas you can hold in your hands" by capturing the characteristics of artworks and statues through meticulous observation and exquisite balance. Now, a new plastic model series is launching to bring "Buddhist statues" to life, attempting to express that same expertise through injection kits! The first release is "Dhrtarastra" from the "Four Heavenly Kings," the deities who guard the main image in temples from all four directions. He is depicted holding a trident spear, glaring with a sharp gaze. Dhrtarastra, positioned to the east (front left) of the main image among the Four Heavenly Kings, is sculpted at a height of approximately 160mm, providing a perfect sense of presence and detailed texture when held in your hands. The figure perfectly captures the atmosphere of the actual statue: the expression with tightly closed mouth and piercing eyes, the armor and robes modeled after those worn by Tang Dynasty generals, and a stance that feels static yet hides inner power. Key points such as the trident spear in his left hand, the ruggedly shaped pedestal, and the dynamic, flowing sashes are all intricately crafted. The highlights of Dhrtarastra, such as the decorative details on the armor surface expressed through subtle relief, and the textures of different materials like cloth, leather, and skin, are all reproduced through sculpture. To ensure that details and characteristic curves are not lost due to injection molding constraints, the parts are cleverly divided to prioritize beauty upon assembly. In particular, fine areas like the ears and shoulder guards of the armor are sculpted with high precision, expressing a beautiful form down to the smallest detail. Furthermore, by minimizing the number of parts, it is possible to assemble the figure of Dhrtarastra, which is formed by a combination of complex curved surfaces, through a simple assembly process. The transcendent Four Heavenly Kings statues are coming to the plastic model series one after another! Following Dhrtarastra, the guardian of the East, the release of the other Four Heavenly Kings has been decided! Vaisravana (North), Virupaksa (West), and Virudhaka (South) will each have their unique expressions and armor details faithfully sculpted.
